» Hello lovies! See what items are in the Spring 2016 Beautycon Box, curated by Bunny aka Grav3yardgirl! See if this quarterly subscription box is worth your coins!
What is the Beautycon box? Normally called the BFF box, the Beautycon Box is a quarterly subscription box curated by a creator. Past boxes include ones from Bethany Mota, Jojo, and Teala Dunn to name a few. You can choose to either pay $100 for the year or $29 every 3 months for 4 boxes, before taxes. This box I am featuring is the Spring 2016 box curated by Bunny Meyer aka Grav3yard girl. This released just in time for Beautycon Dallas. They spent 5 months creating this box picking 12 products with a $130 value. Let's dive in.
The box itself is a lightweight flat box with grid print. It is secured by a mint sleeve with a swirly, tie-dye inspired pattern with Bunny's signature and Beautycon branding.
The unboxing! The interior is a pinky peach color greeting the person opening the box.
There is a cardboard insert instructing how to share your unboxing. The hashtag for this is #beautyconbox! You can share to YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram. I have the most luck getting engagement from Instagram thus far.
With boxes there are always description cards. Bunny had hers specially made by an artist Chrixstopher on Instagram. It is a water color portrait. He also did the illustration for the creepy baby doll paper. Since I did the unboxing live on YouTube, I don't have a photo of how neatly wrapped everything was (if you would like to see, please refer to the video). Rest assured, everything fit like a puzzle piece in the box and fit in there, with the sliver of extra room padded with more tissue paper.
Behold, the contents! There was so many great products stuffed inside, let's dissect.
‣ Beautycon x Grav3yardgirl Doll Keychain
This keychain was specially made as memorabilia for Bunny's "Swamp Family" or what she calls her viewers. Hence the name Grav3yardgirl, she loves things creepy and weird. This was a preexisting doll in her collection from the 1800's that Beautycon has sent off and cast into a trinket for fans.
‣ Beautycon x Grav3yardgirl tie dye hair ties
The first fashionable offering in the box, sassy tie-dye hair ties. Bunny is a lover of tie-dye, so they had blue and gator green hair ties made that can also double as bracelets.

I was very surprised to see this as a the first item she pulled out as Beautyblenders are known to be high ticket items. It is a great universal tool that anyone can use.

This is such a popular mascara among the beauty community. Although they have provided this in one of the previous boxes, I haven't gotten on before, and it is nice to receive a high end brand mascara.
Another high ticket item! Dollskill is an alternative type clothing website, but there are still options for beauty junkies out there! Some cosmetic brands offered on the site include Jefree Star, LimeCrime, and more

Now this is something I haven't seen before - Charcoal in a face wipe. This item is very unique and fun. Definitely something worth trying in full sized packaging.

Whoa, Glamglow? This one definitely piqued my interest. With a high ticket price, this definitely adds value and gives incentive into buying the box. Plus, this particular mask is hard to find the squeeze tube, but has the same net weight of product in the travel pot.

Of all the things I got from Beautycon, this was the only eyeshadow! This palette contains mattes and shimmers, ranging in cool toned neutrals to a pop of blue, appropriate for smoky looks for a night out or concert.
Full size retails for $60
Another universal product for all ages and interests can use. Sun protection! Murad samples are quite pricey, so it is great to see this in the box.

A setting spray! I was definitely influenced to want this product. I've been looking to buy some of the affordable sprays to get my makeup to stay in place more. Happy to see it in the box instead of buying another! This is the full sized bottle.
This color is actually now sold out at Target, with other shades on sale for $8.99. With purchases of power of love lipsticks, a lipstick is donated to a woman in need. "Tender Heart" is a mauve shade.
For the amount of luxury items in the box, it definitely exceeds the price of $25-$29 per box. I am not normally attracted to makeup subscription boxes but this one definitely made me consider it. Since it is quarterly, there is more time to curate a really awesome box with quality items, vs. a lot of low quality items. The downside of the Beautycon boxes is that since it is curated by a different person each time, their tastes may not match yours.

Hello again ladies! Another great product from Katie B! (I asked for two things on my birthday wishlist from her, hehe) In this post I will talk about her liquid MINERAL foundation. what what? Liquid MINERAL foundation? You heard right. Katie b is one of the first few brands to carry liquid mineral foundation. I have this in g200 and I'm on the fence about it. I LOVE the product and its quality, it's just that I'm used to applying a darker foundation to pretend to be tan and well.. To be honest this foundation is almost a perfect match for my skin, and blends into my skin SO well.
Proof that it actually is mineral? The consistency gives you and idea.. it's not completely liquidy and smooth. When applied and set. Try to sprinkle some water on it. It beads up when you try. Mineral makeup doesn't mix with water, hence the beads when you try to get it wet =)
A lot of information is on the website, so I linked it below. It has background information and also color swatches. It is arranged by golden tones and rosie tones, so if you kinda have to know your undertone to shop. I once asked her to match me up and she was going to, but I never got back to her. The one that I chose was near perfect though!
This kind of stuff needs to be applied preferably with a regular makeup brush or I imagine it would work with a wet makeup sponge because of its consistency. I usually stipple and I found it HARDDD to apply with a MAC 187 since it's so thick. I used evian misting spray to wet my brush and then put it on. The water keeps the product from soaking, and you def wouldn't wanna waste it! Plus you use less with that method.
Since there is sooo much info on her site, I'll just share what's on the actual tube. "FOR ALL SKIN TYPES Oil Free, Hypoallergenic This self setting foundation & powder is infused with antioxidants and minerals that protect & hydrate the skin."
PROS - Mineral foundation. 'Nough said. - SPF 15. Who doesn't like a little sun protection? - I haven't had the time to let it sit to find out if it's actually self setting, but I do find when I apply translucent powder I need less than my normal liquid foundation. - Long lasting! Again, it's hard to tell it's there since it blends so well, but when I tried to wash my face with water it beaded up. So the foundation was still there. - Photographs well. I haven't put that to a great test but from what days I put it on and pictures I so happened to take my makeup looked like my second skin. -Comes in six shades for both undertones. Ranges from porcelain to dark tannish. - Squeeze tube packaging! That means you can get a lot of product out. - Can buy full sized (35 grams) or sample sized (5 grams) - Coverage build-able. Can be sheer to full. I find I don't need much concealer either.
CONS - It's a bit expensive. $34.00 for around standard liquid foundation packaging (says it has 1.2 oz on tube) but keep in mind it is a high quality product. - Like the mascara, it also has a funny smell to it. But again it could be because of the natural ingredients in it. - Hard to apply without wetting. - Hard to put my finger on it exactly, but I think it's a bit too yellow for me. It is part of the goldie undertone, so I'm not too mad.
