What is the Beautycon box? Normally called the BFF box, the Beautycon Box is a quarterly subscription box curated by a creator. Past boxes include ones from Bethany Mota, Jojo, and Teala Dunn to name a few. You can choose to either pay $100 for the year or $29 every 3 months for 4 boxes, before taxes. This box I am featuring is the Spring 2016 box curated by Bunny Meyer aka Grav3yard girl. This released just in time for Beautycon Dallas. They spent 5 months creating this box picking 12 products with a $130 value. Let's dive in.
The box itself is a lightweight flat box with grid print. It is secured by a mint sleeve with a swirly, tie-dye inspired pattern with Bunny's signature and Beautycon branding.
The unboxing! The interior is a pinky peach color greeting the person opening the box.
There is a cardboard insert instructing how to share your unboxing. The hashtag for this is #beautyconbox! You can share to YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram. I have the most luck getting engagement from Instagram thus far.
With boxes there are always description cards. Bunny had hers specially made by an artist Chrixstopher on Instagram. It is a water color portrait. He also did the illustration for the creepy baby doll paper. Since I did the unboxing live on YouTube, I don't have a photo of how neatly wrapped everything was (if you would like to see, please refer to the video). Rest assured, everything fit like a puzzle piece in the box and fit in there, with the sliver of extra room padded with more tissue paper.

‣ Beautycon x Grav3yardgirl Doll Keychain
This keychain was specially made as memorabilia for Bunny's "Swamp Family" or what she calls her viewers. Hence the name Grav3yardgirl, she loves things creepy and weird. This was a preexisting doll in her collection from the 1800's that Beautycon has sent off and cast into a trinket for fans.
‣ Beautycon x Grav3yardgirl tie dye hair ties
The first fashionable offering in the box, sassy tie-dye hair ties. Bunny is a lover of tie-dye, so they had blue and gator green hair ties made that can also double as bracelets.
Retails for $18
I was very surprised to see this as a the first item she pulled out as Beautyblenders are known to be high ticket items. It is a great universal tool that anyone can use.
Retails for $12 in the given travel size
This is such a popular mascara among the beauty community. Although they have provided this in one of the previous boxes, I haven't gotten on before, and it is nice to receive a high end brand mascara.
Another high ticket item! Dollskill is an alternative type clothing website, but there are still options for beauty junkies out there! Some cosmetic brands offered on the site include Jefree Star, LimeCrime, and more

Now this is something I haven't seen before - Charcoal in a face wipe. This item is very unique and fun. Definitely something worth trying in full sized packaging.

Whoa, Glamglow? This one definitely piqued my interest. With a high ticket price, this definitely adds value and gives incentive into buying the box. Plus, this particular mask is hard to find the squeeze tube, but has the same net weight of product in the travel pot.

Of all the things I got from Beautycon, this was the only eyeshadow! This palette contains mattes and shimmers, ranging in cool toned neutrals to a pop of blue, appropriate for smoky looks for a night out or concert.
Full size retails for $60
Another universal product for all ages and interests can use. Sun protection! Murad samples are quite pricey, so it is great to see this in the box.

A setting spray! I was definitely influenced to want this product. I've been looking to buy some of the affordable sprays to get my makeup to stay in place more. Happy to see it in the box instead of buying another! This is the full sized bottle.
This color is actually now sold out at Target, with other shades on sale for $8.99. With purchases of power of love lipsticks, a lipstick is donated to a woman in need. "Tender Heart" is a mauve shade.
For the amount of luxury items in the box, it definitely exceeds the price of $25-$29 per box. I am not normally attracted to makeup subscription boxes but this one definitely made me consider it. Since it is quarterly, there is more time to curate a really awesome box with quality items, vs. a lot of low quality items. The downside of the Beautycon boxes is that since it is curated by a different person each time, their tastes may not match yours.

In December Maybelline released their "Rebel Bloom" spring 2015 collection. Their lipsticks are a selection of vibrant shades. The advertised main ingredient is honey nectar.
Overview
The formulation on all these shades are different. Overall they have slip to the texture feeling very similar to buttery lipsticks. Some are opaque and bright, but patchy. Other more sheer shades are still bright but a tad more wearable. You have to build color with these, but for some no matter how much you load on you can still see patches of your lips.
The packaging is the familiar Color Sensational long tube with a fun purple cap. It is noted that all shades are pretty true to the bottom sticker, with the exception of Orchid Ecstasy. Also something to be mindful of, is the classic Color Sensational "play-doh" smell. The smell will go away with wear if it's something you're not bothered by.
They swatch very well on the arm but on pigmented lips apply patchy and not true to color. The pigmentation is there, but the formula stops the shades from being one uniform color.
700 - Barely Bloomed
Barely bloomed is a true nude color with orange undertones. It is pigmented but I had trouble applying color to my lip line.
705 - Blushing Bud
Blushing Bud is one of my favorite shades from the line. It is a rosy mauve and a great "my lips but better shade." It is a great everyday wearable color. This one applied fairly evenly.
710 - Petal Pink
The next 3 pink shades start to look very similar. Petal Pink is a cool toned baby pink. It is very opaque. I described this one as "old Nicki" lipstick.
715 - Hibiscus Pop
Hibiscus Pop is a medium pink color. It looks warm in the tube but on my lips looked cool. This one is on the sheer side, so it looks similar to the other pink shades.
720 - Power Peony
Power Peony is again a cool pink, slightly darker than Petal Pink.
725 - Lilac Flush
Such a beautiful light and cool purple! It's a lot less intimidating than it seems. This is a must have from the line if you're feeling adventurous. It is very opaque and the payoff is worth it.
730 - Orchid Ecstasy
Orchid Ecstasy is what drew me to the line but the most disappointing. I was hoping it was going to come out purple like in the tube but it didn't. It swatches on the arm very well, but it applies the most sheer of them all. Instead of being a purple with pink undertones, it mixes with my lips to create a more magenta shade. If you are already stuck with this, I suggest muting out the lips with foundation or a nude lipstick.
735 - Rose Flush
Rose Flush is a warm toned red. It applies sheer but still has a good payoff, leading to this wearable red lip.
740 - Coral Burst
Coral Burst is my absolute favorite out of this line for a pop of color. I don't own many coral items, and this one is definitely a good one to start with. It applies sheer, but is so beautiful and wearable. It is the only shade I have really gone out in public in.
745 - Peach Poppy
Peach Poppy is such a great light peach shade, but not exactly true to color. It is a lot lighter in swatches than in the tube. It was hard to replicate the picture to what it looks like in real life.
